As Associate Principal, Research and Analytics at Westcourt Capital Corporation, Toshi works closely with the Research & Analytics team in the screening, evaluation, due diligence and on-going monitoring of Westcourt’s investments products. He is responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of the investment performance of alternative investment funds, including explaining performance results, investigating performance discrepancies and bringing issues to resolution.
Before joining Westcourt, Toshi was an Analyst on the Investment Strategy team at CI Assante Wealth Management (“Assante”), one of Canada’s largest wealth management firms. As part of his role as an Analyst, Toshi worked alongside the VP, Investment Strategy and Chair of Assante’s Investment Committee, where he maintained oversight of the firm’s investment product shelf. In addition, Toshi supported all investment due diligence efforts for retail and private product offerings by way of analyzing, evaluating and monitoring investment strategies across a myriad of asset classes, and acted as the liaison with product issuers, promoters and underwriters. He was also instrumental in identifying strategic opportunities for Assante’s high net worth clientele and piloted the revamp and expansion of the firm’s shelf of alternative investments. Toshi was also responsible for carrying out financial market and macroeconomic analyses for the purposes of delivering advisor- and client-facing research-driven publications.
Prior to Assante, Toshi was an Analyst on the Fund Financial Reporting team at CI Global Asset Management (“CI GAM”), a leading investment fund management company in Canada. At CI GAM, he was responsible for preparing, analyzing and performing reviews of CI GAM fund financial statements and regulatory reports. He was accountable for delivering the relevant reporting documentation to financial regulators within the regulatory and audit timeframe, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the reports in accordance with IFRS standards and OSC legislations.
Toshi earned a degree in Management and Organizational Studies (BMOS), Specialization in Accounting, from the University of Western Ontario. He has completed the CFA Level I and is a CFA Level II Candidate. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) from the Canadian Securities Institute and is registered as a dealing representative.
Toshi also has a passion for participating in charitable events and is an avid golf and hockey player and traveler.
