As Principal, Research and Analytics at Westcourt Capital, Sungbo’s areas of responsibility include the sourcing, evaluation, due diligence, and on-going monitoring of Westcourt’s recommended public and private fund investments.
Prior to joining Westcourt, Sungbo was a Senior Associate on the Investments team at the University of Toronto Asset Management Corporation (UTAM), the asset manager that is responsible for the sourcing, evaluation, due diligence, and on-going monitoring of all external investment managers across all asset classes for the University of Toronto’s Pension, Endowment, and short-term working capital funds assets. While at UTAM, Sungbo supported all investment due diligence efforts in evaluating and recommending long only equity and equity focused hedge fund managers for UTAM’s Public Equities and Absolute Return portfolios. Sungbo also led the development of UTAM’s quantitative analytics infrastructure for the Investments team by designing and refining a proprietary analytics solution leveraging Python programming and third-party APIs, achieving synergies through cross platform integration, and automating workflows. He also oversaw all efforts in revamping the firm’s manager research platform by evaluating prospective technology solutions and improving user experiences through UX design.
Prior to joining UTAM, Sungbo was an Associate on the Marketing and Client Services team at Diversified Global Asset Management Corporation (DGAM), an alternative asset manager which was acquired by The Carlyle Group in 2013. At DGAM, Sungbo was responsible for conducting quantitative analysis for all fund of hedge funds and direct fund product offerings with respect to DGAM’s business development initiatives and client reporting.
Sungbo holds an undergraduate degree in Economics-Philosophy (B.A.) from Columbia University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charterholder.
