John Niro, CFA
As Principal, Research and Analytics, John works closely with the Research & Analytics team in the screening, evaluation, due diligence and on-going monitoring of Westcourt’s investments products. He is responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of the investment performance of alternative investment funds, including explaining performance results, investigating performance discrepancies and bringing issues to resolution.
Prior to joining Westcourt, John was at a single family office based out of Toronto. In his role as a Senior Investment Analyst, John supported all investment due diligence efforts in evaluating, recommending and monitoring investments across private equity, private debt, real estate, venture and hedge funds. He was also instrumental in the further development of the office’s growth equity and venture portfolios and worked closely with the COO and Senior Investment Manager to establish diligence frameworks unique to the asset class.
John’s past experience also includes working as an Analyst at a leading advisory services firm to public companies on all shareholder, governance, and transaction-related matters such as proxy fights and other special situations. At this firm, he supported the Corporate Actions team in monitoring, reporting and facilitating various shareholder and client transactions including mergers, tender offers, debt restructurings, and takeovers.
John earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the Schulich School of Business and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) from the Canadian Securities Institute.
