James Sproul, MSc, BASc

As Associate Principal, Research and Analytics, James supports the Research & Analytics team in the ongoing monitoring and due diligence of alternative investment funds.

Before joining Westcourt, James oversaw a multi-generational family office where he was in charge of asset allocation, deal sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of investments (primarily in real estate, venture cap, and mining). During his time there, James also implemented internal reporting practices and began the estate planning process.

James’ past experience also includes working as a project engineer-in-training for a mining company. James was responsible for special projects, construction management, and ventilation. He also wrote NI 43-101 compliant technical reports and was an active member of the site’s Mine Rescue Team.

James earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mineral Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Finance & Private Equity (Distinction) from the London School of Economics. He has completed the CFA Level I.
